Hate your mistake, not yourself

|
Image courtesy of FrameAngel at FreeDigitalPhotos.net
Stop!
Please stop!
Stop saying "I hate myself" whenever you remember your mistake
Or when embarrassing moment flash & flooded your mind
It is okay to make mistakes
You have right to make mistakes
You are human, not an angel
Human prone to make mistakes

Let take a deep breath
Now, listen to me.
If your best friends make mistakes, will you say you hate them?
No, you will not
You will forgive them even before they said sorry
Right?

If your best friends do embarrassing things, will you say you hate them?
No, you will laugh.
Thanking them for making you laugh.

So, can you do the same for yourself?

Stop saying you are stupid for making mistakes
Even high quality human, like prophets make mistakes
But they did not say they hate themselves after they make mistakes
They ran to Allah
They ask Allah forgiveness

Anything that can make you closer to Allah is a gift
A blessing
Not opportunity to say I hate myself

Maybe you make mistakes so you can understand how awful it feels
and how much you want your mistake erased and forgiven

Please hate your mistakes, not yourself
Yes, your mistakes are part of you
But your mistakes did not define all parts of you
Don't be trapped in thinking that you can't be better
Human have ability to learn, to be a better version of themselves
Let your regret, pain, guilt, and shame push you towards Allah
To push you to be a better version of you

Do not resent the calamities that come
and the disasters that occur,
for perhaps in something that you dislike
will be your salvation,
and perhaps in something that you prefer
will be your doom.

Pelajaran dari Kertas Kado dan Beautiful Mind

|

Aku menyadari satu hal: Aku kembali jadi perfeksionis!
Aku berpikir hitam putih. It’s all or nothing.

Pantas saja!

Why can't we admit that we *aren't* perfect? Why can't we admit that our lives aren't perfect? That our relationships aren't perfect? Why can't we admit that we struggle too? That we are human, living a human existence in a painfully imperfect world?

Maybe it's time to set aside our masks and just be real. This world isn't perfect. We aren't perfect. Our lives aren't perfect. And that's okay. If all of these things were perfect, how would we know our need for God? How would we see it?
Our utter, desperate need.

But you see, that's just it. It is only through that need, that we are given. It is only through breaking, that we can be made whole. Tears can be like medicine. Tears to God--the only cure. Salvation doesn't come through feigning perfection. It comes through breaking, through humility, through admitting defeat and utter need, to the only One who can save you. To God. And God alone.

Look at the stories of the Prophets and how they were each saved. Look at the duaa of Nuh (AS) and Yunus (AS) and Ayoub (AS). They didn't pretend. They didn't feign strength and ability and perfection. They humbled themselves completely and admit that they had no strength or ability, because they knew that truly, truly, all strength and ability comes from Allah.

“Are the hallucinations…gone?”
“No, but I’ve gotten used to ignoring them, and as a result, they’ve kind of given up on me. I think that’s sorta what it’s like with dreams and nightmares. We’ve gotta keep feeding them for them to stay alive”

[Hansen is concerned about John still having hallucinations]
Nash: They are my past. Everyone is haunted by their past.

Salim A. Fillah

There is no shame in mistakes, just an opportunity to learn and to grow.

Today, I Fell in Love with Fictional Character

|
Have you ever read a story and then you suddenly fall in love with the character?

I have fallen in love with many fictional characters, especially in the comic book (manga). (´▽`ʃƪ)♡
I used to think I fall in love with them because they are perfect and ideal. (♥ω♥ ) ~♪

Now, I realize they are actually neither perfect nor ideal.
I know, How silly of me!
Alhamdulillah, now I realize it!
Better late than never :p

They have their own strength, weakness, achievement, failure, doubt, and mistake but they still do not give up their dream and things that important to them.
That's what makes their story feels relate-able to me.
They teach me about being real, strong, bold, and optimist.
They are imperfect and I still love them.

I want to tell you who perfectionist like me, who think people will love you when you are perfect.
You are wrong!
I want you to know that you will never be perfect and that's okay.
It means you are human.
Accept all of you, the good and the bad side.
Being grateful for who you are and share the true you.

It does not mean you don't have to be improve.
I want you strive being the best version of your self!
Remember, being the best is not same with being perfect.

“You’re imperfect and you’re wired for struggle
but you are worthy of love and belonging.”
~Brene Brown

Perfection trap

|
After watch  Im Trying But I Keep Messing Up - Yasmin Mogahed
I just realized something:  one of devil's trick is to make us think to wait to be perfect to start something good
I just recalled  when I was in middle school I did not want to put hijab because I feel I am not good or perfect enough as Muslimah
So I want to wait until I became perfect
But the problem is that I will never be perfect because I am human
Human make mistake
The perfection only belongs to Allah
Man's duties are trying to be good (to worship God) and repent every time do wrong
So if I want to do good, I just have to do it NOW!
or as soon as possible
Don't wait to do good before it is too late
We will never know if we still have a chance do it since the death can come anytime

Bismillah
O Allah
Please help me and my readers to always do good deeds as soon as possible
Don't let the devil trick us or fool us
Protect us from the devil
Guide us to the right path
Don't let us go astray after You guide us
La haula walla kuwata illa billah

Mulligan, The Second Chance

|
Mulligan in a golf game, happens when a player gets a second chance to perform a certain move or action. The practice is also sometimes referred to as a "do-over."

I hated Abi (father) because to me he was not a good father

My father is not perfect , he did not work like other fathers , did not care, did not play with his children , rarely present ( as it does not matter ) , and many others

Until one day I discovered my father fell ill
that moment I realized , I hate him because I love him
I have a lot of hope and expectation to him , but a lot of them did not come true
leaving  my disappointment piled , I did not forgive him and then it turned into hatred

Then one day, I read  Tere Liye's facebook status
"We can not choose our parents , can not choose born from a wealthy family , king , handsome - beautiful parents and etc. But it does not mean we can not choose to be grateful at this time. There is always a reason why we live this way. And if we do not understand , then it does not mean God is not fair .- Tere Liye , the novel " Rembulan Tenggelam Di Wajahmu "
After I read the facebook status, I am aware of one thing : our parents are God's destiny and choice.
God knows the best for us. God can not be wrong in choosing our parents.
The best and most suitable father for me by God is abi.

I thought I would give it a second chance and try to forgive Abi.
I try to look my father’s positive side so I can see him in positive light.
The things that I admire about my father are he is diligent in prayer (he pray 5 times a day), read quran diligently, often go to the mosque , choose a good mother to her children ( umiku ), he remained in Islam , he was not drunk, alcoholic, gambler , smoker neither do domestic violence

I guess if my dad is perfect, I might have loved him so much and maybe I 'll love him so much and it exceeds my love of God
"A father could be God for his children when all affairs met with ease. Without a struggle . " - Yusuf Mansur .. "

When I think I gave my dad a second chance, God remind me quite politely.
He reminds me of the command that the child should be devote (honour and obey) to both parents. The command is not saying "devote to your parents if your parents are kind to you."
No!
The command does not imply any order requirements / criteria that must be adhered to parents.
The command is telling me as a child to serve/devote to parent, however the condition of the parents.

Even in Islam , if our parents are non Muslim, the obligation to honour and obey their parents remain as the obligation of a child, as long as the parents do not make the child disobey Allah and do  things that are contrary to Islam.

I suddenly embarrassed. I was arrogant. Astagfirullah!
I thought when I gave my dad a second chance to be a good father ,my father should thank me.
It turns out I was wrong.  I am the one who should be thankful because God gave me a second chance to be a dutiful daughter to my parents.
thank you very much , O God
: ' D

Another important lesson is when I am trying forgive my father, I am also trying heal my wound and forgiving my self.

Bismillahirrahmanirrahim

Strive for Progress, not Perfection

|
"Han, ria udah ngumpulin revisi bab 1. Hana udah belum?" tanya Ria, teman satu payung skripsi kepadaku.

yup i am procastinate

Gue kira bab 1 bakal gampang ternyata ngga..
"Doing something later is not the same with doing something better :D" -Meg Jay

How could I forget about that? >.<

Semangat Hana!!

Note to myself (Catatan yang perlu hana ingat selama jadi mahasiswa tingkat 2 psikologi UI )

|

Halo guys :D
\(•ˆ⌣ˆ‎•)/
Btw, ni jadwal kuliah hana di semester 5:

Hana mau share insight yg hana dapet selama jadi mahasiwa psikologi UI tingkat 2 (semester 3 dan 4) kemarin :D

Semester 3

1.       Lebih baik hana ngga ikut semester pendek
Hana memiliki semangat 45 ketika mengikuti perkuliahan di semester pendek namun semangat Hana menurun saat masuk kuliah di semester 3 >.< merasa jenuh banget gitu… ip hana pas sp bagus tapi semester biasa malah turun.. padahal sks yg diambil di semester biasa kan lebih banyak
Kepanitiaan yang hana ikuti tuh center of entrepreneurship BEM UI 2011, best wanna be 2011, dan nat su no hi 2011.
Kalau matkulnya ngga hana sukai, bukunya sama sekali ngga hana sentuh kecuali pas mau ujian. Parah banget ya? pantesan nilai matkul yang hana sukai selalu bagus tapi yang hana ngga suka tuh biasa aja :D hahaha
6.    Being perfectionist kills me
Perfeksionis
Healthy Striver
Memasang standard terlalu tinggi dan diluar
Kemampuan
Memasang standard tinggi namun masih
dapat dicapai
Tidak pernah puas diluar dari kesempurnaan
Dapat menikmati keseluruhan tindakan dari
proses sampai hasil yang keluar
Menjadi depresi dan kecewa berat karena
saat mengalami kegagalan
Mempunyai daya lenting untuk kembali dari
keadaan kecewa saat gagal
Tertekan oleh perasaan takut melakukan
kesalahan dan kegagalan
Tetap merasa takut gagal namun masih
dalam tingkat wajar, tidak panik berlebihan
Melihat kesalahan sebagai tanda bahwa ia
tidak berharga
Melihat kesalahan sebagai bahan
pembelajaran dan kesempatan untuk
berkembang
Menjadi terlalu defensif saat dikritik
Memberi reaksi positif saat mendapat
kritikan atau masukan

 Sumber : Santrock, J.W. (2011). Educational psychology. (5th ed). New York:McGraw-Hill.

Perfectionists fear that if they give up perfectionism, they won't be good anymore at anything; they'll fall apart. In fact, perfectionism harms performance more than it helps.

Saran buat ngatasin perfeksionis:
Try one or more of these and observe the consequences:
  • List the negative consequences of perfectionism—are you seen as controlling? Do you take on extra work without being asked and then feel overworked? Do you feel exhausted? Does the worry about being a failure or not good enough still come back?
  • Stop using all/never language, such as "It is awful if I make a mistake." "I must always be right!" Mistakes are not intolerable and they are not proof of your unworthiness. See how you and others react when you stop that way of speaking.
  • Plan for "non-perfect" performance. Decide to not take on a specific one-time job that someone else could do, such as writing a report. The goal: to see whether the work gets done even if you don't do it. Also observe: if it doesn't get done, the world doesn't end.
  • Observe the imperfect work of others, and how people accept it with surprising frequency as "good enough."
  • Assume some responsibility, but do not do what others are supposed to be responsible for. Then watch. What do others do and how do you feel?
  • Deliberately do not finish some work, such as typing up an elaborate agenda for a meeting. These kinds of detail-oriented items typically turn out to be inconsequential and noticing that may help the perfectionist become willing to dial down their efforts.
  • Observe how little anyone cares whether you were perfect.
  • Note that when unexpected problems occur, most people usually cope.
  • Learn what makes the difference between important and inconsequential tasks, and to distinguish between what is essential and what is not. Try skipping some inconsequential aspects of a task and observe whether it matters.

thanks a lot to berlian damenia, hafida kusuma dewi yang selalu bilang "it's okay, Hana" saat Hana cemas (˘⌣˘)ε˘`)

thank you guys for reading :D
